With the first round of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta fully under way for anyone who pre ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or has Gamepass Ultimate, and having just reached the current level cap I thought Id report on how it’s going.

I have a love/hate relationship with Call of Duty, and to be honest this was going to be the first year I didn’t pick it up day 1. I fell off Modern Warfare 3 within the second season and haven’t been back. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 coming to game pass I took it as a sign to give it another go. Within the first 20 minutes I had purchased the Vault Edition upgrade, and I am super excited for its full release in October.

I can’t remember having this much fun with Call of Duty since DMZ was having constant updates.

First of all, I was interested about this Omni movement, one of the things I didn’t like about Call of Duty was the slide cancel and jumping corners. I could never do it and constantly felt at a disadvantage. However, the new movement in Black Ops 6 is fast and very simple to master. I felt like I was keeping up and in fact was even doing well getting a couple of MVP’s.

What is Omni Movement?

Essentially you can sprint, slide and dive in any direction. Stay in prone and spin 360 degrees to see enemies in all directions. I haven’t mastered the movement yet, but it’s hilarious watching people dive through doors and windows obliterating what’s on the other side.

AMES 85 was putting in the work at range

The current Black Ops 6 beta gives you access to a handful of weapons and perks, locked behind a leveling system. The guns and shooting feel great. The Assault Rifles pop pop pop and the SMGs Ratt a tat tat like you would expect. There are definitely some stand out weapons so far being the Jackal PDW SMG and my personal favorite the AMES 85. Snipers rifles still 1 shot to the torso which can be pretty annoying at times.

I haven’t had very many performance issues with the beta of Black Ops 6. A couple of frame rate drops but nothing too drastic, and I have only been disconnected once from a game. Something weird is happening with the sound though. I’m not sure if its intentional but my gun shots sound a lot louder than others and the environment seems to be very quite, could be a mixing issue.

Still time to pick up some of the exclusive beta rewards

If you are thinking of giving Black Ops 6 a go there are some cosmetics tied to beta progression, so jump in and grab that Squash and Squish operator skins before its too late.

This current beta ends on Wednesday 4th of September with an open beta being available from Friday 6th of September to Monday the 9th and is available on Playstation 5, Pc and Xbox.
